What does a TA do?

Teaching Assistants help Teachers to prepare materials for lessons and support them with ensuring pupils get the most out of their learning. Working with individuals or groups of pupils, it is a TA’s job to make sure that the children stay on-task and remain engaged in their work. Teaching Assistants will also be called upon when a Teacher is temporarily unavailable so that the children can be supervised appropriately.

As a TA your job will involve working closely with teachers and helping pupils with their educational and social development.

In certain schools a TA may need to be a specialist in a particular area such as literacy, numeracy or special educational needs (SEN). This is particularly a requirement in secondary schools where a TA is more likely to be working with individuals and small groups who may have SEN requirements.

At First for Education we have a broad range of Teaching Assistant jobs in the West Midlands available so if you’re looking for a new position then we are here to help.
