First for Education are recruiting for compassionate and resilient Pastoral Behaviour Mentors to work in our partner secondary schools across Birmingham and the surrounding areas. This is a rewarding opportunity to help shape the lives of young people by supporting their emotional wellbeing, managing behaviour, and encouraging positive engagement with learning.


The Role

As a Pastoral Behaviour Mentor, you will:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group mentoring to support students’ social, emotional, and behavioural needs

  • Help implement behaviour intervention strategies and restorative approaches

  • Work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and parents to promote positive behaviour and attendance

  • Support pupils in developing resilience, confidence, and coping strategies

  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment


What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with young people with social, emotional, or behavioural needs (school, PRU, or youth work experience desirable)

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage challenging behaviour effectively

  • A positive, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting students

  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
