Secondary School Science Technician – Full-Time and Part-Time Roles Available – West Midlands

Location: Birmingham, Solihull, Wolverhampton, Walsall, Dudley, Sandwell, and surrounding areas
Salary: £90 – £140 per day (dependent on experience)
Contract Type: Full-Time or Part-Time / Term-Time Only / Long-Term and Temp-to-Perm
Start Date: September 2025 (or sooner if available)

Support Practical Science Learning in Schools Across the West Midlands

Are you an experienced Science Technician looking for your next opportunity?
Do you want a role where you can choose between full-time and part-time hours to suit your schedule?

First for Education is working in partnership with secondary schools across Birmingham and the wider West Midlands, recruiting Science Technicians for both full-time and part-time roles starting in September 2025 (with earlier starts available).

If you have previous lab experience and a commitment to supporting engaging, safe practical science learning, we’d love to hear from you.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and set up equipment and materials for practical lessons in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
  • Ensure safe storage, maintenance, and handling of equipment and chemicals
  • Support teachers and students during practical sessions as needed
  • Maintain clean and organised laboratory spaces
  • Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering supplies
  • Adhere to all health and safety and COSHH guidelines

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience working as a Science Technician in a school or laboratory setting (essential)
  • Strong understanding of science equipment, lab safety, and preparation of materials
  • A science qualification at A-Level or higher is desirable
  • Excellent organisation, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
  • Two recent, relevant professional references
