Operam Education Group
First for Education is seeking a highly experienced and supportive Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Brierley Hill, supporting pupils with significant SEMH needs and complex cognitive and learning difficulties. This is a full-time, or part time ongoing position, working closely with teaching staff to support pupils across KS1 and KS2 within 1:1, small group, and whole-class settings.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience supporting children with high-level additional needs, particularly pupils with limited verbal communication. You will be confident using alternative communication strategies, including visual supports and Makaton, to help pupils with understanding, engagement, emotional regulation, and communication.
The school has a strong focus on inclusive learning and pupil development, with a supportive staff team and a nurturing learning environment, making this an excellent opportunity for an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant looking to make a meaningful impact within a specialist support role.
You will be confident supporting pupils with SEMH needs, speech and language difficulties, and complex learning needs, while adapting support strategies to meet individual pupil requirements. The role may also involve providing personal care, so professionalism and confidence in this area are essential.
Experience supporting speech and language interventions such as WellComm is highly desirable.
Only candidates with clear, demonstrable experience supporting pupils with communication-focused SEND needs and significant SEMH challenges will be considered.
