When and what is ‘British Science Week’?
Did you know British Science Week 2023, runs for 10 days from the 10th to the 19th of March? It celebrates science, technology, engineering as well as maths and is run by the British Science Association. This year’s theme is ‘Connections.’ Teachers and supply teachers as well as TAs may find it useful to look at our British Science Week 2023 guide.
What can the theme of ‘Connections’ include?
The theme ‘connections’ covers many topics, so here we have listed a few broad ones to generate your own teaching ideas:
- human impact on the environment and climate change, e.g., different forms of travel and pollution, household waste and pollution, food and waste gases, energy use and the environment
- how atoms connect to form chemical bonds, e.g., gas, liquid and solids, water or any element or compound, isotopes
- how human organs work and connect with each other, e.g., heart and lungs, skeleton, layers of skins, muscles, the eye
- communication connections e.g., the internet, radio, TV, telephones, Morse code
- wellbeing connections e.g., talking, friendships, hobby and activity clubs to share similar interests
- travel connections and the impact travel innovation has had on humanity from the bicycle to the space shuttle.
