Pastoral Leader

First for Education is recruiting a Pastoral Leader for a secondary school in Birmingham. The role focuses on supporting student wellbeing, safeguarding, attendance, behaviour, and personal development.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide pastoral support and early-help interventions.
• Support safeguarding processes alongside the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
• Monitor and improve attendance, punctuality, and behaviour.
• Work with students, families, staff, and external agencies to remove barriers to learning.
• Support students with welfare, mental health, and social or emotional needs.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to inclusion and wellbeing initiatives.

Ideal Candidate

• Compassionate, organised, and resilient.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Experience in education, pastoral support, youth work, social care, safeguarding, or a similar role (desirable).
• Confident managing challenging situations and supporting positive outcomes.
