Are you passionate about helping children find their voice?
Do you have experience or training in speech, language, or communication needs (SLCN)?
We’re working closely with a nurturing and inclusive SEND school that caters for pupils with a range of communication barriers, including ASD, developmental delays, and speech difficulties. They are seeking a Speech and Language Support Assistant to join their team this September.
🧠 The Role:
- Support individual pupils and small groups with speech, language and communication interventions
- Work under guidance of the school’s on-site or visiting Speech and Language Therapist (SaLT)
- Implement bespoke communication strategies (e.g. PECS, Makaton, visuals)
- Track progress and liaise with teaching staff and external professionals
- Support classroom inclusion, emotional wellbeing, and pupil confidence
✅ Ideal Candidate:
- Previous experience in a similar role or strong interest in SaLT/SLCN support
- Knowledge of communication tools such as Makaton, PECs, or Attention Autism is highly desirable
- Patient, empathetic and resilient – able to work with non-verbal or distressed pupils
- Team player with excellent communication skills
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. Speech Therapy Assistant Cert, Psychology degree, TA Level 3) are a bonus
