Not every pupil fits the mould – and not every educator does either.
We’re looking for a Youth Engagement Worker to join a specialist SEND school that supports young people with additional needs, often including SEMH, autism, ADHD, trauma-related behaviours and communication barriers.
This role is about connection before correction. You’ll work closely with pupils who need consistency, patience, and a steady adult presence to help them feel safe, valued, and ready to learn.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Supporting pupils 1:1 and in small groups to regulate behaviour and re-engage with learning
- Delivering tailored support plans in line with EHCPs and pastoral strategies
- Using restorative, therapeutic and person-centred approaches to build trust
- Acting as a mentor, motivator and advocate for some of the school’s most vulnerable learners
- Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and external agencies
You Might Be:
- From a youth work, mentoring, residential care, outreach, or sports coaching background
- Someone with lived experience or strong understanding of trauma-informed practice
- A confident communicator who stays calm under pressure
- Passionate about inclusion and SEND, even if you’ve never worked in a school before
Why Apply?
- Be part of a creative, inclusive, and emotionally intelligent SEND team
- Specialist training and development (Team Teach, trauma-informed care, etc.)
- Make a measurable difference in young people’s lives – every single day
If you’re up for a challenge with real reward — we want to hear from you.
