Salary: £90 – £160 per day (dependent on experience)
Contract Type: Full-time / Long-term

Support Behaviour, Wellbeing and Progress in a Birmingham Secondary School

First for Education are recruiting an experienced Behaviour Support Mentor to join a secondary school in Birmingham from January 2026. This long-term role is ideal for candidates who are passionate about supporting young people, promoting positive behaviour, and helping students overcome barriers to learning.

Experience working within a school setting is essential, and candidates must be confident working with pupils who require tailored behavioural and emotional support.


The Role

  • Supporting students with behavioural, social and emotional needs

  • Managing behaviour interventions and pastoral support plans

  • Working 1:1 and in small groups to promote positive decision-making

  • Assisting with behaviour incidents and restorative conversations

  • Building strong, professional relationships with students and staff

  • Monitoring progress and reporting concerns to pastoral leads

  • Upholding safeguarding, behaviour and inclusion policies


What We’re Looking For

  • Essential: Experience working within a school environment

  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills

  • Ability to build trust and rapport with young people

  • Confident communication and a calm, supportive approach

  • Experience in pastoral, SEN, youth work or behaviour support

  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
