First for Education are recruiting an experienced Behaviour Support Mentor to join a secondary school in Birmingham from January 2026. This long-term role is ideal for candidates who are passionate about supporting young people, promoting positive behaviour, and helping students overcome barriers to learning.
Experience working within a school setting is essential, and candidates must be confident working with pupils who require tailored behavioural and emotional support.
Supporting students with behavioural, social and emotional needs
Managing behaviour interventions and pastoral support plans
Working 1:1 and in small groups to promote positive decision-making
Assisting with behaviour incidents and restorative conversations
Building strong, professional relationships with students and staff
Monitoring progress and reporting concerns to pastoral leads
Upholding safeguarding, behaviour and inclusion policies
Essential: Experience working within a school environment
Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
Ability to build trust and rapport with young people
Confident communication and a calm, supportive approach
Experience in pastoral, SEN, youth work or behaviour support
An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
