DT Technician

First For Education is working with a well-regarded secondary school in Dudley, and we are seeking a skilled and motivated Design & Technology Technician to support the DT department. This part-time role (2 days per week) is ideal for someone with workshop experience, practical skills, and a passion for supporting students’ learning.

Must have experience in design technology

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare materials, tools and equipment for DT lessons

• Support teachers during practical sessions where required

• Maintain and oversee machinery, tools, and workshop spaces

• Ensure all equipment is safe, maintained, and compliant with health & safety standards

• Assist with stock checks, ordering materials, and managing resources

• Contribute to a well-organised and efficient DT department environment#

What We’re Looking For

• Experience as a DT Technician or within a workshop/technical environment

• Good working knowledge of tools, machinery, and practical processes (e.g. woodwork, metalwork, CAD/CAM)

• Understanding of health & safety regulations within a workshop setting

• Organised, proactive and able to work independently

• A practical, hands-on approach with a willingness to support teaching staff

• School experience is desirable but not essential
