Early Years Educator – Birmingham

Location: Birmingham
Start Date: November 2025
Salary: £85 – £110 per day (dependent on experience)
Contract: Full-time, ongoing, with potential for long-term placement

Inspire the Foundations of Learning as an Early Years Practitioner

Are you passionate about shaping the very first steps of a child’s educational journey? Do you have the patience, creativity, and enthusiasm to make every day in the classroom exciting and engaging? If so, this could be the opportunity you’ve been looking for.

First for Education are delighted to be supporting a well-established setting in Birmingham, who are seeking a dedicated Early Years Practitioner to join their team. This is a part-time role working within EYFS, providing hands-on support to children as they begin their education.

Early Years is one of the most rewarding and vital areas of education. The experiences children have in these formative years set the tone for their entire academic journey. The right Early Years Practitioner can inspire confidence, independence, and a love of learning that will stay with pupils throughout their lives.

The Role: What You’ll Be Doing

As an Early Years Practitioner in this Birmingham setting, you will play a central role in creating a fun, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting learning and development – working with groups of children and on a one-to-one basis to help them develop essential early literacy, numeracy, and social skills.

  • Delivering play-based activities – bringing the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework to life through engaging, creative activities that encourage exploration and curiosity.

  • Tracking pupil progress – observing, recording, and contributing to children’s learning journals to ensure each child receives the right support for their individual needs.

  • Providing care and support – ensuring the physical, emotional, and social needs of children are met, while fostering resilience and positive behaviour.

  • Collaboration – working closely with the class teacher, SEN staff, and other members of the EYFS team to provide a joined-up approach to children’s development.

  • Safeguarding – maintaining a safe and secure environment, following safeguarding procedures, and promoting the welfare of all pupils at all times.

What We’re Looking For

This role would be ideal for someone with an established background in Early Years education or a newly qualified practitioner looking to take their next step. To be considered, you should have:

  • A recognised Early Years qualification (Level 2, Level 3 or above in Childcare, Early Years, or equivalent).

  • Previous experience of working with children in a Nursery, Reception, or EYFS setting.

  • A solid understanding of the EYFS curriculum and the ability to support pupils’ learning and development in line with its requirements.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, parents, and staff.

  • A nurturing, patient, and adaptable approach, with the ability to respond to the needs of individual learners.

  • An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or a willingness to apply for one through us).
