Location: Rubery, Birmingham
Salary: £160 – £320 per day (dependent on experience)
Contract Type: Part-time / Long-term (3 days per week)
Start Date: January 2026
End Date: March 2026


Lead the Geography Department in a Supportive Secondary School

First for Education are recruiting a dedicated and experienced Head of Geography to join a well-regarded secondary school in Rubery. This part-time role (3 days per week) will run from January 2026 to March 2026, providing department leadership and high-quality teaching across the Geography curriculum.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Geography Teacher with leadership experience—or strong departmental responsibility—to take on a focused, impactful role for the spring term.


The Role

  • Leading the Geography department and supporting curriculum planning

  • Delivering engaging and challenging Geography lessons at KS3 and KS4

  • Monitoring pupil progress and providing targeted support

  • Ensuring high standards of teaching and learning across the department

  • Working closely with SLT and contributing to the wider school environment

  • Upholding the school’s behaviour and safeguarding expectations


What We’re Looking For

  • Qualified Geography Teacher (QTS required)

  • Experience leading a department or holding TLR/subject leadership responsibilities

  • Strong classroom and behaviour management

  • Excellent subject knowledge and communication skills

  • A proactive, organised and professional approach

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

All qualified Geography specialists with relevant experience will be considered.
