A relevant teaching qualification (QTS or PGCE).
A genuine enthusiasm for education and helping pupils thrive across EYFS, KS1 and KS2.
Strong classroom management, organisational and communication skills.
Punctuality, reliability, and a professional approach to supporting pupils and colleagues.
An Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to apply – we can help with the process).
Two recent and supportive professional references.
We welcome applications from both experienced teachers and early career teachers (ECTs). What matters most is your ability to engage pupils, deliver inspiring lessons, and maintain the highest safeguarding standards.
As a Primary Teacher with First for Education you will:
Deliver engaging lessons that meet curriculum requirements and adapt to pupils’ needs.
Contribute to creating a positive, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment.
Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, support staff and school leadership teams.
Support children with SEND and EAL where needed, ensuring all pupils can access learning.
Maintain high expectations for behaviour and achievement, helping every child reach their potential.
Adapt quickly to new schools and year groups, using your initiative and professionalism to provide seamless cover.
Whether you are teaching phonics in Year 1, preparing Year 6 pupils for SATs, or supporting cross-curricular projects, your role will be to inspire confidence, resilience, and a love of learning in every classroom you step into.
At First for Education, we understand that supply teaching is more than just “filling a gap.” It is about providing meaningful continuity for pupils and valued support for schools. By joining us, you will benefit from:

Flexible work that fits around your lifestyle, whether you want full-time or part-time.

A recommend-a-friend referral scheme with attractive rewards.
APSCo accreditation – we are proud holders of this standard, meaning our recruitment practices are independently audited to ensure the highest levels of safeguarding and compliance.
We take pride in our relationships with schools and candidates alike. Many of our teachers go on to secure long-term or permanent posts through us, thanks to the strong partnerships we build across the West Midlands.
First for Education is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. If you are ready to take on a rewarding role where your teaching skills can have an immediate impact, we’d love to hear from you.
