Science Technician

Are you a proactive and reliable Science Technician with a passion for supporting learning in the lab?
First For Education is working with a well-regarded secondary school in Shrewsbury that is seeking a skilled Science Technician to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in the delivery of high-quality science education.

As a Science Technician, you’ll be supporting the Science Department by preparing materials for practical lessons, maintaining equipment, and ensuring health & safety standards are met at all times. You’ll work closely with teaching staff to ensure the smooth running of science experiments and lessons across KS3 and KS4.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and set up equipment and materials for science practical’s

  • Ensure the safe storage and disposal of chemicals and biological materials

  • Assist in maintaining an organised and well-stocked prep room

  • Support the teaching staff with classroom demonstrations and student experiments

  • Monitor and maintain laboratory health and safety standards

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working in a lab or school science department (preferred)
  • A science-related qualification (desirable)
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • A proactive and flexible approach to supporting teachers and pupils
  • Knowledge of COSHH and health & safety practices (preferred but not essential)
