Job Description

SEN Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a caring, committed and enthusiastic Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join our supportive school community in Telford. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with additional needs and play a key role in helping them thrive both academically and socially.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide tailored support to pupils with a range of special educational needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language difficulties, and learning needs

  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement individual education plans (IEPs/EHCPs)

  • Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups

  • Help create a calm, safe and engaging learning environment

  • Assist with behaviour support and emotional regulation strategies

  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN (school-based experience desirable)

  • A patient, empathetic and resilient approach

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • A genuine passion for inclusive education

  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff

  • Relevant qualifications or training in SEN support (desirable but not essential)
