SEND Teaching Assistant

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you’ll work closely with teachers and support staff to help children with a range of special educational needs reach their full potential. You’ll play a key role in providing tailored support, promoting inclusion, and creating a positive, engaging learning environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils with a variety of SEND needs (e.g. ASD, ADHD, SEMH, MLD) on a one-to-one or small group basis.

  • Assisting teachers with lesson preparation, classroom management, and resource creation.

  • Encouraging independence and social development through positive interaction and praise.

  • Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to the class teacher and SENCO.

  • Helping to maintain a safe, supportive, and nurturing learning environment.

About You

We’re looking for individuals who are:

  • Passionate about supporting children with additional needs.

  • Patient, caring, and resilient with a positive attitude.

  • Able to build strong relationships with pupils and staff.

  • Experienced in an educational or care setting (preferred but not essential).

  • Hold a valid DBS (or willing to apply for one through First for Education).

Relevant qualifications such as Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant, or experience within SEND provision, are highly desirable but above all, we value enthusiasm, empathy, and a genuine commitment to making a difference.
