OEG appoints its first Apprentice Ambassador

Apprentice Ambassador

We are delighted to announce that we have appointed our first Apprentice Ambassador, Poppy Burnside. Poppy is from our West Yorkshire branch and first joined OEG as a Service Administrator Apprentice, at 17 years old. She decided that she wanted to work and earn money in addition to completing her NVQ in business studies. “Being recognised for your work within the company, along with the confidence people have in you to achieve more, is something that OEG are great at. It gives individuals like me an even greater sense of belonging and dedication to the company.” Poppy successfully completed her NVQ and apprenticeship at OEG. She is now a Trainee Primary Consultant, as well as OEG’s Apprenticeship Ambassador.

About Apprenticeships

Did you know an apprentice can gain a qualification like an NVQ as well as develop specific job competencies? In addition, they can gain generalised work skills, such as affective communication capability, whilst earning a wage. All apprentices can study for 8 hours per week through designated study time supported by an online tutor or by attending college. In addition, apprentices can access support via their line manager and colleagues.  Notwithstanding in-house training, centred around job skills and development. Paula Ho, Associate Director, and line manager, stated, “Apprenticeships are a great route into the busy recruitment world, giving on the job training and experience whilst working towards a qualification.”

Being an Apprenticeship Ambassador means that Poppy, alongside her normal duties will become an advocate for apprenticeship roles within OEG. Additionally she will visit colleges, speak with different career advisors, visit job centres and education networks. In-house, she will   welcome and become a workplace buddy for new OEG apprentices. Ultimately, Poppy wants to support the development of more apprenticeships within the company. Ideally having one apprentice per location. Consequently, colleagues could experience first-hand, the benefits and opportunities an apprentice can bring and ways they support the business.
