SEN Cover Supervisor

We are seeking a dedicated SEN Cover Supervisor to join our team in Telford. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate individual who is eager to support students with special educational needs (SEN) and make a positive impact in their learning journey.

Role Overview:

As a SEN Cover Supervisor, you will take responsibility for managing classrooms in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring that students especially those with special educational needs continue to learn and engage with their work. You will be expected to provide tailored support for SEN students, promoting their inclusion in the lesson and ensuring they feel confident and motivated to succeed.

This role requires a flexible and empathetic approach to working with a diverse range of students, and you will be an essential part of the school’s support team in ensuring the students’ academic and social progress.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage SEN students in the absence of their usual teacher, ensuring that learning continues smoothly.

  • Provide individual or small group support to SEN students, helping them to understand lesson content and stay on task.

  • Adapt teaching materials and strategies to meet the specific needs of students with SEN.

  • Promote positive behaviour management and ensure that all students remain engaged in their work.

  • Foster an inclusive classroom environment where students with SEN feel supported and encouraged.

  • Provide feedback to teachers on students’ progress, behaviour, and any issues that arise during the lesson.

  • Help implement and monitor individual education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.

  • Work closely with the SENCO and other staff members to ensure students receive appropriate support.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience working with students with special educational needs is highly desirable.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with students and staff effectively.

  • Patience, empathy, and a flexible approach to supporting students with varying needs.

  • Classroom management skills and the ability to maintain a productive learning environment.

  • Ability to adapt to different teaching environments and subject areas.

  • A DBS check (we can help you obtain one if you don’t have one).

  • A genuine passion for making a difference in the lives of students with special educational needs.
