We are currently recruiting for a passionate and dedicated SEN Cover Supervisor to join our team in Shifnal. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with students with special educational needs and wants to make a difference in their educational journey.
Role Overview:
As a SEN Cover Supervisor, you will oversee and manage students in the absence of their usual classroom teacher, ensuring that SEN students continue to make progress in a positive and inclusive learning environment. You will provide tailored support to students with a range of special educational needs, promoting engagement with the lesson content and helping them to overcome any barriers to learning. This role offers the opportunity to work in diverse school environments and develop a valuable skill set while making a direct impact on students’ educational experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and manage SEN students during lessons in the absence of the class teacher.
Provide tailored support to students with a variety of special educational needs, ensuring they remain engaged and on task.
Adapt teaching materials and approaches to meet individual students’ needs, ensuring they have full access to the curriculum.
Promote positive behaviour management and maintain an environment conducive to learning.
Assist with personal care and any mobility needs where required.
Support students’ social and emotional development, encouraging confidence and self-esteem.
Report on student progress, behaviour, and any issues to the relevant teaching staff.
Help to implement and follow individual education plans (IEPs) for students with SEN.
Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to ensure a cohesive approach to student development
What We’re Looking For:
Previous experience working with students with special educational needs is highly desirable.
A strong passion for supporting students and helping them achieve their potential.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with both students and staff.
Strong classroom management skills, with the ability to handle a variety of situations.
A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach to working with students with diverse learning needs.
Ability to adapt to different learning styles and provide personalized support.
A DBS check (we can assist you with obtaining one if you don’t have one).
A proactive and professional attitude, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
